Bio

Hello Parents,

My name is Marlon Morris and this is my second year at Trinity High School. Currently, I teach Social Studies and I am the Head Football Coach of the Trinity Bulldogs (Trinity Strong!!!). Previously, I taught at Wheatmore High School, and coached and taught at Eastern Randolph High School before arriving here at Trinity. My wife, Shannon, works at the county office for the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Randolph County Schools. She is a 1993 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School. She and I have a beautiful, intelligent, and trouble making son named Rhett. Rhett is the absolute apple of my eye and my pride and joy. Shannon and I feel very blessed to be back home in this area working in Randolph County close to our family and friends.

I graduated from High Point Central High School in 1991 and Guilford College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/ Anthropology and Justice & Policy Studies with a minor in Political Science. While at Guilford College I was a three-year letterman and starter at defensive cornerback for the football team. Furthermore, I started the Guilford College Track and Field Club team in 1995 that has since evolved into a NCAA varsity sport at Guilford College.

Since 1997 I have been involved in many aspects of working with young people as a court system professional, athletic coach, and academic teacher. My first professional work experience was as the Guilford County Teen Court Program Director from 1999 until 2002. I worked with first time non-violent juvenile offenders within the Guilford County Juvenile County Court System.

I began teaching in 2002 at Eastern Guilford High School after receiving my Teaching Certificate from Greensboro College. I have had the opportunity over the past 20 plus years as a teacher and coach to move around quite a bit, and have enjoyed teaching, coaching, and living in some great places. I have taught and/ or coached at Ragsdale High School, East Forsyth High School, Southwest Guilford High School, Ledford High School, RB Stall High School (Charleston, SC), Brevard High School, Havelock High School, and Eastern Randolph High School.

While teaching at Eastern Guilford High School there was a 12% passing increase in United States History EOCs. My one year teaching at SW Guilford High School I was very fortunate to have the highest United States History EOC scores in Guilford County. From 2006 until 2012 I had the highest United States History EOC scores in Davidson County. Furthermore, while working at RB Stall High School we went from an 11% pass rate on the United States EOC Test to a 43% passing rate in my two years there, and moved RB Stall out of Title I status. While, teaching at Brevard and Havelock High Schools all of my students met and exceeded growth based on North Carolina EVAAS data. Finally, while teaching at Eastern Randolph High School my EVAAS data for American History and World History showed exceeded growth for all my classes.

Furthermore, I have coached high school football for over 20 years and 16 of those years as a defensive coordinator, four years as assistant head football coach, and two years as assistant athletic director. Plus, nine years as a head track and field coach, and voted Conference Track and Field Coach of the Year twice.

I’m very fortunate and grateful to have had so many opportunities to gain so much work experience with young people on the high school level as a teacher and coach over the past twenty plus years. I believe these experiences give me an ideal background for working with your kids. I am very excited about being at Trinity High School, and teaching and coaching your children. Thank You for all you do for your children, Trinity High School, and the Trinity Community.

Trinity Strong,

Marlon Morris
